Genesis Secures Edmonton Light Rail Transit System

Genesis Integration Inc. has been awarded a contract to re-vamp the complete video surveillance system for the Edmonton Light Rail Transit (LRT) System. The Edmonton based company will provide a state-of-the-art wide area network IP (Internet Protocol) based video security management system based upon the Genetec Omnicast software.

“This is an exciting opportunity to leverage our expertise in Network Video Recording technology to provide a system that will grow with the needs of the LRT,” stated Cliff Ziegler of Genesis. “The initial scope of the system includes nearly 500 cameras and the Genetec system allows for expansion to thousands of cameras if required.”

By using a computer network based surveillance system, operators located at the LRT security centre are able to monitor activities along the entire system, including cameras located in each of the systems eleven transit stations.

Genetec, a Montreal based manufacturer of security management software, has designed the Omnicast surveillance system as an enterprise-class solution that is used in retail, educational, government, transit, prison, and healthcare locations the world over.
