Genesis Integration Inc. has qualified as an InfoComm International Gold Certified AudioVisual Solutions Provider (CAVSP). This designation recognizes that 75 percent of the regional office’s sales, customer service and technical staff have achieved and maintained individual InfoComm Certification.

InfoComm awards individual Certification to audiovisual professionals who have demonstrated knowledge and comprehension of the science and technology used in communications including audio, video, display and systems. Technicians, engineers, designers, salespeople, customer service personnel, managers and executives are eligible to take the individual certification test.

“A CAVSP designation gives AV companies a competitive advantage in the marketplace,” said Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D., InfoComm International’s executive director. “Customers of audiovisual communications and presentation systems can be confident of professionalism and an aspiration to excellence when working with these companies that have invested in education and training to stay current on the latest AV technologies and techniques.”
The company-level CAVSP Certification program is the only such program available for the commercial audiovisual industry. In addition to confirming that 75% of the regional office’s employees are InfoComm certified, the Gold CAVSP designation means that Genesis Integration Inc. agreed to comply with 10 Standards of Excellence developed in collaboration with industry experts to emphasize the best practices of audiovisual businesses.

The Standards of Excellence are a guidepost for audiovisual companies and professionals who place the customer first and offer quality audiovisual solutions. They include the commitment to provide complete customer satisfaction with audiovisual solutions that provide value to the client. They convey the importance that audiovisual solutions providers place on their own skills development through continuing education. They also cover the critical role that audiovisual professionals play as partners with IT specialists, architects, building managers and others.

About InfoComm International
InfoComm International is the industry leader in certification for AV communications professionals, and is the only audiovisual certification recognized by the U.S. National Certification Commission and accepted by the U.S. Veterans Administration for reimbursement under the Montgomery G.I. Bill. InfoComm certification programs are designed to establish and maintain widespread credibility for the audiovisual industry and the professionals who perform the work. The company-level CAVSP designation recognizes professionalism and expertise achieved through professional development, training, and continuously updated certification of employees.

Genesis Integration Inc. has been awarded a contract to re-vamp the complete video surveillance system for the Edmonton Light Rail Transit (LRT) System. The Edmonton based company will provide a state-of-the-art wide area network IP (Internet Protocol) based video security management system based upon the Genetec Omnicast software.

“This is an exciting opportunity to leverage our expertise in Network Video Recording technology to provide a system that will grow with the needs of the LRT,” stated Cliff Ziegler of Genesis. “The initial scope of the system includes nearly 500 cameras and the Genetec system allows for expansion to thousands of cameras if required.”

By using a computer network based surveillance system, operators located at the LRT security centre are able to monitor activities along the entire system, including cameras located in each of the systems eleven transit stations.

Genetec, a Montreal based manufacturer of security management software, has designed the Omnicast surveillance system as an enterprise-class solution that is used in retail, educational, government, transit, prison, and healthcare locations the world over.

Genetec, incorporated in 1997, is recognized as a pioneer in IP security solutions and a technology leader within the physical security industry. “This system will be one of the largest Omnicast installations in Western Canada and Genesis is among the most experienced integration firms available providing complete support from design, to installation and service/support,” says David Chauvin, Genetec’s Regional Sales Manager for Western Canada.

After almost twenty years in business, Genesis Communication Inc. is changing the name of the company to better reflect their current business model. Effective December 1, 2007, Genesis Communication Inc. will be known as Genesis Integration Inc.

Over the years the work performed by the company has evolved from simple audio systems into fully integrated audio, video, data, security, and telecommunication systems. The best value that the company brings to clients is expertise and experience when it is integrating all of those technologies into a single unified system. With the growing industry trend of convergence it is expected that some form of integration will be required in almost every project.

“It was very hard to even consider making the change,” stated company President Kelly McCarthy, “We have worked extremely hard to make our name synonymous with quality and I simply didn’t want to tamper with it. However, it is obvious that integration is truly what we do and our name should reflect that.”

Genesis will be making the name change in all branch locations across the country.

For further information please contact Randall Paul, General Manager, at 1-800-363-0292.

“I am very proud to be associated with this group of people,” states Genesis Vice President Dan Moran in referring to the Genesis staff. “They understand that we have a responsibility to our community and our industry that goes beyond financial rewards.” Many Genesis staff members contribute time and money to charities at home and abroad with the company matching all internal donations raised. Genesis staff members sit on many volunteer board positions and advisory committees in Canada and the USA.

Calgary Technician Adam Dippel, for example, is taking a group of high school kids to Mexico where they are going to build a home for a homeless family. They are also going to be staying in an orphanage for the entire trip. They will be doing general painting and dry walling work in the orphanage, building a small shed and installing a hot water tank. Adam has worked on a fundraising campaign to get the materials and expenses that he will need to do the work required. Genesis has agreed to match any donations raised within the company.

Edmonton Sales Consultant Dennis Turner has been serving on the Board of Directors of the Wildrose Polio Support Society for five years and as Treasurer for the past three years. He has participated in the Great Human Race, a United Way initiative, for the past four years to raise funds for the Society. The Wildrose Polio Support Society provides therapeutic support and rehabilitative services to polio survivors. Once again Genesis has agreed to match any donations raised within the company.

Genesis Project Manager Howard Humeny volunteers as the equipment manager for the Sherwood Park District Soccer Association. Over the past few years Howard has arranged for the donation and delivery of over 2000 jerseys as well as balls and other equipment to kids in Africa, Cuba, and Afghanistan. In association with the Canadian Military, the equipment donated was instrumental in a soccer tournament for over 900 kids in Afghanistan.

Genesis also works directly with the Brown Bag lunch program in Calgary to provide lunches to children in inner city schools. In Edmonton Genesis provides funding to the Youth Emergency Shelter to support their efforts in helping troubled teens. “It is our intent in our new offices in Vancouver and Ottawa to also provide value to those communities now that we are an active part of them,” says Genesis President Kelly McCarthy.

McCarthy volunteers time to sit on the board of directors of the National Systems Contracting Association in the USA, as well as sitting on several advisory committees for colleges and post-secondary trade schools in the cities where Genesis has offices. Scott Cahoon in the Genesis Calgary office also provides advisory services to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology where he attended and graduated. Brent Bauman, CTS of the Edmonton office sits on the Infocomm SAVVI (Sound, Audiovisual and Video Integrators) Council.

Many other staff members here at Genesis give of their time, money, and expertise, to make the communities that we reside in better places and the industry that we work in more professional. We are proud of these folks as they support our vision and values.

The project includes security cameras, door access control, and burglary alarms, in remote aboriginal communities. The IP communications protocol allows the security system to be centrally monitored and controlled using the same data stream as the Health Canada communications network.

“Genesis Communication extensive background in data networks and security systems allowed us to get the most value available for our client”, says Cliff Ziegler (Genesis Communication project engineer). It was a challenge to make sure that the Genesis technical team was fully prepared prior to getting in the bush plane and heading to site. “There was no going back to the shop for supplies if we were not completely prepared”, tells Keith Ilesic (Genesis Site Foreman).

Genesis provided design consultation, installation, and programming for one of the most complex electronics systems north of the 49th parallel. With over 340 flat panel and projection displays that can be addressed from video central the results have been stunning.

The Genesis team was brought in late in the project when Paragon discovered that their chosen consultant was in way over their heads. “Fast tracking a project this complex was a challenge and took up a lot of our resources”, recalls Genesis’ Kevin McKay, head engineer for the project, “but it was certainly worth it now that we see the results. More than that, we have a very happy client.” Genesis is currently working on several other Paragon projects across the country.
